St Alban’s RC High School is committed to providing an appropriate and high quality education to all the children attending our school, in accordance with our Christian values. Our motto, “BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE”, leads us to encourage high expectations in pupils of all abilities, and to encourage More Able and Talented (MAT) pupils to reach the highest standards.

The Welsh Assembly Government suggest that approximately 20% of the school population may be “more able”. More Able and Talented pupils are identified as being above the core of the class in the statutory curriculum. At St Alban’s, our MAT scheme has been put in place to identify, support and challenge more able and talented pupils, something which only a few secondary schools in Wales are doing, according to Estyn.

This website has been put together as a source of information for parents and pupils about our More Able and Talented scheme, to encourage communication  and also to enable parents to support their children in an informed way.
